  • 1885: May, Construction begins & neighborhood association forms
  • 1885: July, Annual 4th of July celebration begins
  • 1886: Ash & rubbish removal service begins
  • 1887: First electric fire alarm system
  • 1887: Sugar Maple adopted as official tree
  • 1889: Phase 1 construction ends
  • 1896: Steam Plant on Plant Avenue burns down
  • 1899: Radnor township established
  • 1900s: Construction  resumes near Woodland Ave
  • 1948: NWPA Ash removal service ends
  • 1950: First Xmas tree in the Walnut triangle
  • 1985: Area designated as National historical area
